This piece, titled ‘Safe and Sound,’ is inspired by the traditional Chinese blessing ‘平平安安’ (Píng Píng Ān Ān). In Chinese culture, the word for ‘apple’ (苹果, Píngguǒ) is a beautiful symbol for a wish of safety and well-being, as it sounds just like the word for ‘peace’ (平安, Píng’ān).
I chose to pair this symbol with the panda, a beloved national treasure of China. Adored worldwide for its gentle nature and charming appearance, the panda itself is an icon of peace and friendship. Together, the peaceful panda and the symbolic apple create a powerful visual charm, carrying a heartfelt wish for happiness and security into your home.
